We're finally back in Jamaica and staying at Devine Destiny again. We'll be here for at least 3 months if not 6 again. Not sure exactly when we're leaving actually but probably be back in the states by July 4th. If we continue to travel back and forth every 6 months then it looks like December and July will be good times for us to travel.

I have been reading your site for about a month now. Very informative.  I have been traveling to Negril for 23 years now and am almost ready to move.  My friend Kim and I were there from Jan 5 - 18.  We stopped by Devine Destiny our first week and I was amaized how peaceful it was.  We walked around the property for almost 30 minutes and ran into absolutely no human beings.  We did hear someone eating lunch in one of the rooms. BTW, someone needs to toss about 5 gal of chlorine in the pool.

We are back in the states now (for the time being)

One of the most informative writings on your website before we left was regarding opening a bank account.  Belive it or not, I was actually able to open an account at Scotia with just a personal reference and a bank statement faxed down from my friend in California when we were there.  Under no circumstances am I saying it was *easy*, but I was able to open both a USD and JMD account.  It took about 2 1/2 hours but I actually walked out with two passbooks and a ATM card.  The next day when I went back to make a larger cash deposit, I had quite a hard time to get them to take the money.  They wanted to know sources of the deposit, etc.   But after about 40 minutes and me explaining that now everyone in line behind me has seen you count that stack of C notes, I won't make it back to my room alive, they agreed to accept it.

So now that step 1 is complete, I can move forward, one step at a time.

I appreciate the work you have done with this site and look forward to more correspondences.

Hey Alfred,

Another question if you don't mind.

What do you do for internet access when in Negril? and what kind of speed and cost is it?

Sorry, went on a road trip to Kingston. I am trying to get Jamaica Cable and Wireless to install a landline phone in our apartment. They have a new DSL plan with a 3MB service for $60 per month that I am interested in.

Alfred,
Can you give us a quote for staying at Devine Destiny?  Our dates are Feb 17 2008 - March 19 2008
We can be reached at   jsagert1@wi.rr.com

I saw you driving your van on Westend Rd. last month.  Where were you going in such a hurry?  I waved while standing at De Bar,  Eddies place across from Dreamscape Villas.

Write back soon as I probably won't be able to find your answer on this forum.

Thanks
